The land grabs threaten to destroy the declining dynasty
Tale
When the massive Lawson cattle station lacks an heir, Australia’s rival factions see a chance to seize control. The series was filmed across the Northern Territory and South Australia in locations so remote they’re barely inhabited – let alone shown on-screen.
The acting is fantastic, the relationship bonds are intriguing, complex just enough
Locations include the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Kakadu National Park – with special permission from the Traditional Owners – and Tipperary Station, a real-life, working cattle station that’s so large it has its own airfield and school.. While I thought this was a beautifully filmed series, the story line is overly melodramatic.
Makes me think its made for an international audience
Viewers outside of Australia may be scratching their heads about our gun control laws while watching this. I lived in the Northern Territory for 8 years, there’s certainly not this much shooting going on between humans, it’s OTT.
It’s a very watchable series
The destruction of the country and constant manipulation is certainly true to life. Death and grief could be explored in more depth, although the inheritance of psychological trauma does a good job of continuing throughout.
