Ghost’s Macabre… My cable was down, so I found this by accident
Tale
The plot centers on a struggling high school heavy metal band of outcasts who exploit the town’s sudden interest in the occult to gain a reputation as a Satanic metal band, until a strange series of events sparks a witch hunt that brings them back to life. The episode titles are all taken from songs by heavy metal/hard rock bands. Def Lepard’s Hysteria, KISS’s The Sky is Burning, Meatloaf’s Speaking in Tongues, Iron Maiden’s I Can Play with Madness, Black Sabbath’s Die Young, Danzig’s Mother, Queen, and Dance Too Late.
Peacock isn’t my usual streamer, but I got a good price for it
Either way, I wasn’t expecting much, but I love a good horror comedy and this was better than I expected. I like that it’s set in the 80s because it gave the show a “leave it to beaver” vibe; feel The Parents is what you would expect from an 80s TV show. When a teenage soccer star disappears and is later found in what appears to be a ritual death, two stories start to run parallel.
The two main characters are Linda and Tracey
Three outcasts who have a hard rock band that no one is in decide to use him to gain publicity for their band. They convince everyone they are Satanists, which works for a while, but then they become prime suspects in a murder. The second story involves adults who become religiously hysterical (get this) about their children.
But it also shows that fear and paranoia carry real danger
Tracey is a good villain in this, as she is willing to exploit Linda’s fear of her son not being understood and his choices in order to whip the town into hysteria. The show is not perfect, but it says some interesting things about parents’ fear of not understanding their children if they don’t follow through on their plan for them. It’s a fun show and if you’re looking for something to watch it’s worth checking out.
