Segel told Goldstein that they had to at least pitch it to Ford, thinking he would immediately decline, but at least other people would hear that Harrison Ford had been pitched the project, generating interest from other notable actors.

And Jessica is perfect
He has the weird, idiotically confident energy that this role needs. Her humor is just right for the dialogue. This is a new way of dramatizing situations. No real punch lines, just engaging personalities with a pinch of quirk, and family circumstances that are a little beyond the ordinary, but still relatable.
You would immediately lose your license
Of course, Jimmy’s behavior as a therapist is completely absurd. Simply impossible. But in drama we allow metaphorical situations. And in this scenario, we feel a strong directionality of decisions.
